The forbidden city is closed to the public

The Museum "Forbidden city" in Beijing announced that the complex in the heart of the Chinese capital will be closed from the 25th of January. In a statement published on the official website of the Museum, such a decision due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The Museum promised to return the money for tickets purchased online for dates after 25 January, and wished everyone a "happy and healthy Chinese new year".

Forbidden city (gugong) — the Palace complex, located in the heart of Beijing, near Tienanmen square. For nearly 500 years — until the revolution of 1912 — lived Chinese emperors, and access for ordinary people was limited. In 1924 the authorities of the Republic were expelled from the Palace of the last member of the Qing dynasty PU Yi, who retained the title of Emperor even after the revolution. A year later in "the forbidden city" was organized by the Museum.
